Are the Most Expensive Windows the BEST Windows?
Enchantment Windows & Doors knows that other companies try to sell you their windows at high prices- but did you know that all window products are the same across different businesses?
Yes!
All window manufacturers must have their Fenestration products tested in order to have the Energy Star sticker on their products. This includes testing at National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) approved labs. These NFRC labels provide important energy efficient window and door information about the Energy Ratings. But what good do these labels do if window businesses don't tell you what they mean? How can you be sure you're being sold the correct Albuquerque energy efficient window or door for a reasonable price? That's where Mark & Wendy of Enchantment Windows & Doors steps in.

U-Factor
U-Factor measures how well a window product prevents heat from leaving your home or commercial building. The numbers for these ratings are usually from 0.15 and 1.20. The lower, the better! Keeping the heat inside your home is especially important during the colder months, so it's important to know what this rating means.
Air Leakage
Air Leakage measures how much outside air is coming into your home or building, through the window. This rating is usually shown in numbers from a range of 0.1 to 0.3. The lower the number, the better the window is at keeping outside air out. This rating is optional, but some manufacturers like to include it on the label.
Condensation Resistance
Condensation Resistance measures how well a window product can resist condensation. This rating is shown as a number between 1 and 100, with the higher number meaning the product is better at resisting condensation. This rating is also optional.
SHGC
Solar Heat Gain Coefficient measures how much heat from the sun is being blocked by your window. This is usually shown as a number between 0 and 1, the lower the number the better. This rating is important if you live in a usually warm climate, and want to make sure it stays cooler inside.
VT
Visible Transmittance measures how much light is coming through your window. This rating is shown as a number between 0 and 1, and the higher the number, the more amount of light shines through.
Windows created for our Southwestern Region
Why is it important to not only buy windows designed for you area of the Southwest but to have them manufactured there as well? In the Southwest the weather and elevation are totally different that the East coast. As you know the sun is more intense than other areas of the country and our elevation is much higher than someone living in in an eastern state.
With the intensity of the sun in New Mexico the glass that you want for this area is designed to block out unwanted heat and damaging UV rays. We have levels of glass to make sure you get the protection desired to not only block out unwanted heat in the summer but to also block UV rays that damage interior furniture.
With the elevation in this area ranging from 5,000 feet up to 10,000 feet it is imperative that the factory manufacturing your windows are in a comparable altitude as well. If you purchase windows from a manufacturer at lower altitudes the insulated glass expands as it is being shipped from that lower elevation, it can distort the window up to including breaking the glass as the pressure from altitude change increases. Both of our factories are located in almost the same altitude so our windows are made for our environment.
Installation for our vast majority of stucco home can be challenging. Since our windows are designed for this region with mostly stucco exteriors we have many choices of exterior trim options that work with stucco installations very well.

Some other factors to consider when looking for which window to purchase may include:
- Air Infiltration
- Water Infiltration
- Structural Performance
- Acoustical Performance
- Security
- Cost
- Warranty
